Post-game Chatter |
Coach Michel Therrien:
- “[Pacioretty’s injury] is bad luck. It could have been a lot worse. We’re going to take the time to make sure Patch will get better. In the meantime, it’s not such bad news.”
- On call-ups from Hamilton to fill-in for Pacioretty: “Not for now”
- “[Columbus] is a good team. They’re tough to play against because they play almost a similar style that we do. They pursue the puck really well. I know that when we scored that third goal with our penalty-killers that they ended up scoring right away. The game was not over. We got caught on the second goal. The defenseman pinched. We got caught too deep. After that it was 50-50.”
- “It was a good game for the fans and a tough game for coaches. Both goalies made some key saves.”
- “We came back from a long road trip. The first game we know that it’s always demanding. And sometimes it just takes you more time to get involved in the game. But what I like about our players tonight, we came out of the gate really strong. I really appreciate that.”
- “It’s nice for [Bournival] to score his first NHL goal. That’s always a special moment for any player. But what I like about Bournival is that he has gained confidence with every game so that’s a good sign. I liked his intensity and I like his speed. We can tell that he is a team guy, sacrifices himself blocking shots so for a young kid there are a lot of good signs that are positive.”
- “That’s part of teaching and understanding the game. We can’t forget that P.K. [Subban] is a young defenseman, and when we always say he still has things to improve on, that’s a part of it; playing according to the score, according to the time left on the clock. So that’s part of our responsibility. Making mistakes is OK, but you have to learn from your mistakes.”
Blue Jackets coach Todd Richards:
- “We didn’t start the game on time. For whatever reason, the speed of the game overwhelmed us.”
- “[Jenner] is trying to drive this team with his work. He was one of the big reasons this thing got turned around.”
