GAMEDAY: All Habs Headlines
► The Habs with a chance to take back first:
- After the Boston Bruins beat the Tampa Bay Lightning last night while the Montreal Canadiens only picked up a point, losing in overtime to Pittsburgh Penguins, the Bruins took a hold of first place in the East edging out the Canadiens by a point.
- Both teams now have 30 points in the standings, but the Bruins have a few games in hand which puts them ahead of the Canadiens.
- The Habs have a chance to take back that lead on Sunday as they face the Bruins in Boston, where the winner will stand a top the East all by themselves.
► Prust celebrates his 300th with a goal:
- Brandon Prust picked up a goal in the loss against the Penguins on Saturday which marked his 300th career game in the NHL. Prust is also the current Canadiens’ ironman with a streak of 219 consecutive games played.
► Max Pacioretty, Exclamation Point, Exclamation Point, Exclamation Point:
- Max Pacioretty!!!
- Pacioretty picked up a goal and an assist on Saturday bringing his season total to 18 points (7G, 11A).
- Nine games ago, Pacioretty had no goals on the season but in his past eight games, he’s had seven goals and five assists for twelve points.

- Michel Therrien had trouble hiding his frustration after losing the Penguins on Saturday and shared his thoughts following the game.
“Crazy game, eh,” said Therrien, “It’s definitely exciting for the fans but that’s one of the reasons we start seeing coaches with grey hair. I had so many feelings tonight, you don’t even know. Same as you guys, probably. There were times when it was like, ‘Ok, we’re back in the game’ then 10 minutes after, it was like, ‘Oh no, what are we doing?’ There’s not much to say about tonight’s game besides that it was exciting for the fans. Right from the start, we weren’t sharp mentally and we were losing pucks in places we’re not supposed to be losing pucks. We found a way to get a point and to find our way back into the game. That’s the positive.”
- Brian Gionta also shared his thoughts following the 7-6 loss in which he scored twice.
“You’ll take the point no matter what, it’s just not the way we wanted to play. It’s tough to win games in this league when you’re not playing the right way, especially against teams like that who are so offensively gifted. We had spurts of things where we were going and then other parts where we just weren’t moving our feet. It was a back and forth game, mistake after mistake. It’s a game that could’ve gotten us back into first place against a team that’s ahead of us. We were flat at times and it ended up hurting us.”
