GAMEDAY: All Habs Headlines
► Nobody worse than the Panthers:
- With only seven wins and 20 points in the standings, the Florida Panthers currently in last place in the entire league.
- The Panthers have been riddled with injuries, putting out of commission players numerous players including Jose Theodore, forcing Florida to play Scott Clemmensen who’s been absolutely terrible.
- Clemmensen’s goals against average ranks 46th while his save percentage ranks 45th on nhl dot com. They only track the top 46, to give you an idea of where he ranks.
- Also, when evaluating even-strength goals against per 60 minutes of play, for goalies with at least ten games played, Clemmensen ranks 37th out of the 37 goalies.
- He’s basically at the bottom of every stats category. Perhaps it’s time for the Panthers to have some faith in Jacob Markstrom and let the aging Clemmensen find himself a new home.
► Down goes Prust:
- Brandon Prust went down hard to the ice on Saturday against the Tampa Bay Lightning, after he pretty much skated “unhit” directly into the boards.
- His left shoulder, which he was favouring after going down took the majority of the impact.
- This happened on a dump in as Prust tried to beat the defencemen to the puck in the corner.
- He left the game and didn’t return and will be out of the lineup against the Panthers.
► Can’t forget about Emelin:
- Alexei Emelin hardly gets the credit he deserves for his contributions to the Montreal Canadiens defence.
- Emelin scored a goal against the Lightning on Saturday giving him six points in his last six games and he now totals nine points on the season.
- He leads the team in hits with 88, 16 more than his closest rival, Brandon Prust. He’s seventh in the league in this same category.
► Gallagher knows how to find the net:
- Brendan Gallagher added another goal to his season total this past Saturday, he who now has seven on the season.
- Jonathan Huberdeau of the Florida Panthers who the Canadiens play tomorrow leads all rookies with 12 goals, but Gallagher’s seven puts him just behind in second place, tied with Cory Conacher of the Tampa Bay Lightning.
- In total points however, Conacher leads the bunch with 20, Huberdeau follows behind with 17 and Gallagher is third 14 points.
