► Junior hockey update: Habs prospects in the CHL

WHL: Brendan Gallagher now has ten goals and 17 points in just nine games for the Vancouver Giants, including a goal and three assists in a 5-2 Vancouver Giants win against the Kelowna Rockets. Meanwhile, Darren Dietz picked up three assists in a losing cause, as the Spokane Chiefs topped the Saskatoon Blades 5-3 Saturday night.

QMJHL: Blueliner Morgan Ellis has 10 points in 13 games, including an assist against Victoriaville on Sunday as the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles fell 5-3, Nathan Beaulieu contributed a goal in a 6-0 win over Quebec and another in a 10-3 thrashing of the P.E.I. Rocket, while left wing Olivier Archambault picked up his 6th goal in 10 contests as Drummondville was beaten by Moncton 6-2.

Injury report: Jarred Tinordi and Michaël Bournival are still out of their respective lineups with injuries.

► Dogs’ shuffle the deck: A transaction by Canadiens GM Pierre Gauthier on Sunday means changes for the Hamilton Bulldogs.  Their top scorer Brock Trotter was traded to the Phoenix Coyotes, where he will get a chance to play in the NHL.  Michael Blunden who was Trotter’s linemate and third on the team in points was called up to the Canadiens.  Returning to the Bulldogs from Montreal are Aaron Palushaj and Andreas Engqvist with career minor-leaguer Garrett Stafford arriving from the Coyotes.

Stafford has a previous connection to Hamilton as he is remembered best for being on the receiving end of a stick to the face delivered by Alexander Perezhogin in 2004. Perezhogin was suspended for the remainder of the season.

Back in April 2010, Kyle Roussel wrote 22 Reasons to Fire Jacques Martin. Contrary to what the mainstream media will have you believe, the growing pressure to remove the dinosaur coach is not a knee-jerk reaction to the Canadiens poor start. Well, Kyle has updated his list with ten fresh reasons to turf the guy who beats up on rookie reporters.

  1. Habs team is still the best in hockey game, however, players must play a defensive game all the time. There is no fault of a coach. It is the joint effort of team players to control the puck in blue line area and near the goal. The goal tender should not be attacked either in his hand with a stick or pushed in the goal creeze. Montreal hockey is the best ice hockey all the time.Wait and see next game will be better.Panthers won by chance with one goal only. Eric is the best player see him in next few games.Line up is excellent. Goal tending is OK.Habs will will next game.
