Game Report

We have been preaching it since the start of the season. With wins expected to be at a premium for the Canadiens this season, the power-play can be the great equalizer.

Coming into this game, Montreal had the 31st ranked power-play in the NHL with just one power-play goal in 24 opportunities this season. With two goals via the man advantage tonight, they have tripled their total.

Cole Caufield and Juraj Slafkovsky scored on the power-play as part of a three goal second period for the Canadiens. After trailing 3-1 midway through this game, Montreal scored five unanswered goals on Jordan Binnington to take the lead for good.

Christian Dvorak did all of the scoring for the visitors in the third period picking up his first three goals of the season for his only NHL hat trick.

Up Next

The Canadiens will have a day off in St. Louis on Sunday and then continue their road trip with a game in St. Paul on Tuesday night.

Post-game Quotes

Marty St. Louis

  • “It’s a fun environment right now, and we have to earn that fun. The fun is something you earn every day, and I think we’re doing that. Whether we win or lose the game, I think we’re earning our fun.”
  • “I thought it was Slaf’s best game – not because he scored, not because he played on the power-play, but I feel like every shift he got, I feel like he got on base and he had his homerun ball on that power-play, he took advantage of it and scored.”
