MONTREAL, QC. — This past February 12th marked Bell Canada’s annual “Let’s Talk” Day, which encourages mental health awareness and raises money for the cause. Canadians talked, texted, Facebooked, and tweeted their way to a $4,813,313.30 donation on behalf of the corporations. It might seem like a passive way to make a difference, Canada said a whole lot, regardless of what they were talking about. And, let’s be honest: it was pretty nice to know that the money we used to pay our phone and TV bills ended up going to a good cause.
Bully is an eye-opening film released last year that shows firsthand what happens to some children face every day at the hands of their peers. It follows five young victims of bullies and the challenges they face, proving that this isn’t just a pet cause for some celebrities – it happens in schools and neighbourhoods everywhere.
Bullying can cause deep emotional damage to its victims, and can sometimes go hand-in-hand with mental illness. Kids Help Phone is a free, anonymous and confidential phone and on-line professional counselling service for youth, dedicated to improving the mental and emotional health of children and teens.
