Game Report

There have been very few games like this one this season. The Canadiens were outshot by the visitors with the Senators also holding an advantage in shot attempts. Last but not least, Ottawa dominated high-danger scoring chances 13-6.

Yet the Canadiens got solid netminding from Jake Allen. And the Habs skaters took advantage of shaky goaltending by Filip Gustavsson. Allen won for the first time since November 27th.

The Canadiens offence was provided by five different scorers. Cole Caufield continued his hot streak with his 13th goal of the season. Jack Evans had a goal and an assist on his way to being named first star.

The other three goal scorers, Brett Kulak, Joel Armia and Paul Byron, while longshots, could be auditioning for teams that need to add depth players before the trade deadline. Artturi Lehkonen continues to be attracting the most attention from potential suitors.

Kent Hughes was pictured taking an important call on the broadcast. His phone should be ringing often before Monday’s 3:00 pm ET deadline.

Up Next

The Canadiens are halfway through their six-game homestand by hosting the Boston Bruins on Monday night at the Bell Centre.
