ROCKET SPORTS MEDIA | MONTREAL, QC. — One hundred years ago today, Maurice Richard was born in Montreal. The Rocket was the first player to reach the 500-goal milestone in the NHL. Richard was driven by equal parts of speed and passion, and was as tough as he was skilled. Happy birthday Rocket!

Here are the rest of your Habs Headlines.

Kaiden Guhle

Canadiens defensive prospect Kaiden Guhle is on the ice at a Sportsplex near Calgary taking part in the National Junior Development Camp by Team Canada. The final day of camp, which has included drills and scrimmages, takes place on Wednesday.

Guhle picked up an assist during Saturday’s scrimmage on a goal scored by forward Zachary L’Heureux of the Halifax Mooseheads. And on Tuesday, Guhle scored a first period goal for Team Robitaille.

Guhle, who wore the ‘C’ for the Prince Albert Raiders last season, was inspired by Canadiens captain Shea Weber during the Canadiens recent Stanley Cup run, hoping to emulate his leadership style. Guhle suited up for three games with the Laval Rocket last season. After returning to Prince Albert, Guhle suffered a hand injury in just his second game back.

Guhle is looking for redemption after being part of the Canada’s silver medal squad at the World Juniors last year. Guhle said “I don’t think I’m over it yet” referring to Canada’s defeat in the gold medal game.

Odds-makers sceptical of Bergevin’s moves

After the Canadiens trip to the Stanley Cup Final Marc Bergevin believes that he has discovered the formula for playoff success. The first steps in his off-season plan have been to replace the personnel lost to injury and free agency. The Habs GM has added forwards Mike Hoffman, Mathieu Perreault, Cedric Paquette and defencemen David Savard and Chris Wideman.

So far, bettors have not endorsed the moves made by Bergevin. Prior to the start of free agency, the Canadiens were listed as 18-1 odds to win the 2022 Stanley Cup. Following the additions to the lineup, the Canadiens Cup odds have dropped to 25-1.

In the Atlantic division, here are the current Stanley Cup 2022 odds (via BetMGM.)

Tampa Bay Lightning  7-1
Boston Bruins  12-1
Toronto Maple Leafs  14-1
Florida Panthers  20-1

Montreal Canadiens  25-1

Ottawa Senators  100-1
Buffalo Sabres  200-1
Detroit Red Wings  200-1

Colorado Avalanche are the Cup favorites so far.

Tomas Tatar

Former Canadiens winger Tomas Tatar remains available as an unrestricted free agent. Tatar did not receive an offer from Marc Bergevin.

Tatar has a proven ability to contribute to a team’s offence during the regular season with six 20-goal seasons. It is understand that Tatar is looking for a contract with term.

  1. salut-bien chers amis allhabs,
    god bless the rocket,eh
    what a player.inspiration-encaptulated.
    talent/skill.passion.competitif.humble.
stood up for his teamates.always.never let his teamates down.never.
    scored the big ones.always.
remember that most famous one?in the playoffs.against boston i think?legendary description with dick irvin jr.he was knocked-out.taken to the dressing room for sticthes.unconscious.he wakes up.”rocket are you okay?where are we?what’s your name”etc.his first words are:”where are my teamates,my team?”.the rest is history.storms out unto the ice for the overtime.still bloodied et semi-conscious.blurred vision.could not see right.
jumps on the ice.takes the puck from his own zone.up the ice.by one.bye another.still with the puck.approaches the boston blueline.still with the puck.straight to the goalie.boston defencemen try to stop him.they cannott.they try to tackle him.he dusts them off like flies.they cannott slow him down.he swoops unto the net and scores the overtime winner.incredible and true.asked afterwards about it,he humbly replies.”i was trying to pass the puck to my teamates,i do not normally carry the puck that way.but i could not see.so i just continued to go forward with it”.
incroyable.when i was a boy.i would go to our little bibliotheque/library in our school.i discovered the sports book section.very small section.i would spend hours there.checking all the hockey ones.looking for the montreal canadiens stories to read.i had them memorised, back then eh.this still remains in my conscious.
a picture of the rocket, during a game somewhere, maybe chicago or boston?
warm day.fog all over the ice.cannott see very well to play even.and there is this caption that i retain to this day.”when the smokes clears, the rocket stands supreme!!!” holy smokes.i would look at that book et picture every chance i had.i did even a bad thing.i tore the picture out of the book.took it home and put it on my wall next to my bed.not right eh.i ask for clemency.even now.
why was the rocket suspended for all those games and the playoffs back in 55?because the other 3 teams in the playoffs were afraid of facing him.they begged mr.campbell to expell him for the playoffs too!!!and he did.unjust decision.
sorry for being too long here.it is stronger than me.
    portez-vous bien
    familleCH,
guyCH10 soit avec-nous en prieres et pensees
