Now they have two. And that came at the expense of the Montreal Canadiens. The Ducks were smarting from being shutout twice this week by the Senators and the Maple Leafs, by a combined 10-0 score. But it was Anaheim who scored twice in a 28 second span in the first period to take a 2-0 lead to the first intermission. The Canadiens were lethargic and sloppy in the opening frame. Montreal was riding an 0-for-20 streak on the power-play in the past five games and had fallen to 32nd in the league with the man advantage. But they were facing the worst penalty-kill in the NHL. Anaheim was able to nullify the first three Montreal advantages in this game but Cole Caufield scored with Simon Benoit in the box early in the third period. Caufield picked up his second goal of the game but the Ducks were able to regain the lead on John Klingberg’s second tally. The Canadiens suffered the embarrassment of handing Anaheim just their second regulation victory. The reverse retro jerseys – versions 1.0 and 2.0 – have just one win in eight games worn. Up NextThe Canadiens will have a day off on Friday and then host the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday night at the Bell Centre for the final home game of 2022.Plus▲ Johnathan Kovacevic, Jordan Harris, Cole CaufieldMinus▼ Chris Wideman, Arber Xhekaj, Rem Pitlick, Jonathan Drouin, Mike Hoffman, Josh Anderson, Nick Suzuki, Christian Dvorak, Jake AllenGame PreviewCheck out the game preview here: Reverse Retro Returns | PREVIEW: ANA @ MTL |
