Habs couldn’t beat an AHL filled roster

    Habster:

One simple word to describe tonight’s game against the Washington Capitals: DISAPPOINTING!

The Canadiens were essentially playing against a Capitals’ team which is only a shadow of its talented self. With players like Alexander Semin (bruised chest), Sergei Fedorov (ankle) and Chris Clark (broken forearm). Add into the MIA list: Mike Green (shoulder), John Erskine (upper body), Jeff Schultz (broken finger) and Brian Pothier (concussion like symptoms).

We’re talking about four starting defensemen and arguably three top six forwards that were missing from the Capitals lineup. They were replaced with such AHL household names like Sami Lepisto, Bryan Helmer, Tyler Sloan, Karl Alzner (granted, blue chip prospect)……I think you get my point here!!!

The Caps were prime for the picking and the Canadiens couldn’t take advantage of the situation.

Maybe adding some AHL players who are greatly motivated to an NHL roster is the way to go when your team is injury depleted or lacks the heart/desire to compete…..are you read this Bobby!!!! A novel concept when considering your next move if the Habs continue their up and down play.

Granted, it’s not like the Canadiens “handed” the Caps the game (oooops!!! sorry Franky and Jaro!!!). They didn’t play a terrible game but needless to say could have played a stronger game against a depleted Caps lineup, especially when Alex Ovechkin has an off night with only a fluke/bad goal to his credit.

Just a little rant to relieve some pent up frustration after the game, folks!!!
