MONTREAL – The Montreal Canadiens announced on Friday that they have used a compliance buy-out, as allowed by the NHL’s Collective Bargaining Agreement, on defenseman Tomas Kaberle’s contract which is valid until the end of the 2013-14 season.

KaberleKaberle spent two seasons with the Canadiens, amassing three goals and 25 points in 53 regular season games.

A 14-year NHL veteran, Kaberle was acquired by the Habs on December 9, 2011 in a trade that sent defenseman Jaroslav Spacek to the Carolina Hurricanes.
