Habs Fans Rally Against ALS

By Caitlyn Golem, Staff Writer, All Habs Hockey Magazine

OWEN SOUND, ON. – Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, better known as ALS, is a progressive neurological disease in which patients could lose their ability to move, speak, swallow, or even breathe. Anyone on social media in the past month is very familiar with the popular ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. We have all seen videos of people from all walks of life taking the challenge and we have thoroughly enjoyed seeing the participation of our most beloved players.

P.K Subban seems to always be larger than life and so was his challenge.

Many Canadiens fans turned up at the practice facility in Brossard to challenge their favorites!

Videos of Lars Eller, P.A. Parenteau, David Desharnais, Brandon Prust, Alex Galchenyuk, Mike Weaver, Dustin Tokarski, Nathan Beaulieu, Marc Bergevin, and Youppi have been viewed by thousands of Habs fans worldwide.

But you may have missed two quirky videos by Habs prospects, Jacob de la Rose and Nikita Scherbak.

Habs fans also posted some great videos of themselves accepting the challenge.

Kayla from Montreal took the challenge while representing the Habs.

Mikey from Oromoncto, New Brunswick got his whole family involved as he supported those battling ALS and his favourite team.

Nick from Montreal, Quebec. Although he is wearing a Patriots shirt, when it comes to hockey, he is all about the Habs.

The Ice Bucket Challenge has raised over $100 million and an astonishing amount of awareness (compared to $2.8 million in the same period last year.) I challenge all our readers to complete the ice bucket challenge and/or donate to the cause at als.ca or alsa.org!

Hashtag #ShowYourHabs on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram so we can witness your stand against ALS.
