I wouldn’t commit a long term contract (ie- 4 or 5 years at $20-25 million) to a one dimensional player like Michael Ryder. Ryder has to be one of the most frustrating players to watch with his tunnel vision style of hockey. He doesn’t use his linemates as well as he should and rarely back checks. Yes, he has a great shot and can score 25-30 goals each season, something the Canadiens desperately need but not at any cost.
