Habs Look to USHL Again

An excerpt from Habprospects.com (montrealdan):

The Montreal Canadiens had only five selections at the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, the least amount of picks since 1968, but just two weeks later the team acquired another pick when they traded Mikhail Grabovski to the Maple Leafs for defensemen Greg Pateryn who was in the fifth round, 128th overall. Pateryn spent this past season as a rookie in the USHL where he led his team in penalty minutes and points among defensemen, while also being named to the USHL All Stars and before that he played in the USHS where he was All State in Michigan.

Pateryn was expected to spend another year in the USHL after committing to one of the top programs in the NCAA, Michigan University, but his strong play had Head Coach and former ex-Hab Red Berenson opted to bring him to Michigan for the 2008-2009 season where he would join another Hab prospect Max Pacioretty. Both prospects will have to face another prospect in Andrew Conboy who will go to Michigan State next season so the players will be apart of one of the biggest rivalry’s in the NCAA.
