CANADIENS ASSIGN BLUNDEN, RECALL ST. PIERRE

MONTREAL, QUEBEC – Montreal Canadiens and Hamilton Bulldogs General Manager Marc Bergevin announced today the Canadiens have assigned forward Mike Blunden to the Bulldogs and have recalled forward Martin St. Pierre from the Bulldogs.

StPierre_MartinBlunden, 26, has recorded no points and five penalty minutes in six games with Montreal this season. In three games with Hamilton this season, the 6’4”, 216-pound forward has recorded three points (two goals, one assist) and four penalty minutes. The Toronto, Ontario native split last season between Hamilton and Montreal. In 54 regular season games with the Bulldogs, he recorded 22 points (10 goals, 12 assists) and 76 penalty minutes. In five regular season games with the Canadiens, Blunden recorded no points and four penalty minutes. He was originally selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in the second round (43rd overall) in the 2005 National Hockey League Entry Draft.

St. Pierre, 30, has recorded eight points (three goals, five assists) and 12 penalty minutes in seven games with Hamilton this season and is currently tied for the team lead in points with defenceman Magnus Nygren. In 38 career regular season NHL games with the Chicago Blackhawks, Boston Bruins and Ottawa Senators, the 5’9”, 187-pound forward has recorded eight points (three goals, five assists) and 12 penalty minutes. The native of Ottawa, Ontario is a veteran of 523 career AHL games, in which he has recorded 536 points (154 goals, 382 assists) and 521 penalty minutes.

Hamilton’s next game is scheduled for Wednesday, November 6th, when they travel to Rochester, New York to take on the Rochester Americans (AHL Affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres) at 7:05 p.m. The ‘Dogs will be back on home ice on Friday, November 8th, when they will host the Grand Rapids Griffins (AHL affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings) at 7:30 p.m. at Copps Coliseum.
