Habs Sign Daniel Briere to 2-Year, $8M Deal

Unrestricted free agent Daniel Briere has come to terms with the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday afternoon signing a 2-year, $8 million deal with a no-trade clause.  The Philadelphia Flyers had used a compliance buyout to part ways with Briere on June 20th after a season where the 35-year-old forward scored just six goals, 10 assists for 16 points and a minus-13 rating.  Habs fans shouldn’t expect that Briere will relocate anytime soon saying that he will remain in South Jersey.  “This is my home,” said Briere. “Wherever I’m going to end up, the kids are staying here and I’m coming back here. This is what we consider home now.”
