MONTREAL (July 5, 2011) – Montreal Canadiens general manager Pierre Gauthier announced today the signing of goaltender Peter Delmas to a three-year, two-way contract (2011-12 to 2013-14). As per club policy, financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Delmas, 21, played in two games with the AHL Hamilton Bulldogs in 2010-11, posting a 1-0-1 record, a 1.92 goals against average and a .933 save percentage. He spent most of the season with the Canadiens’ development team in the ECHL, suiting up for 24 games with the Wheeling Nailers. He recorded 15 wins, 6 losses and 2 overtime losses, with a 2.03 goals against average and a .928 save percentage.

Delmas led the Wheeling Nailers to the ECHL Eastern Conference Finals in 2011, as the club was defeated in six games against the Kalamazoo Wings. He played in 15 of the Nailers 17 playoff contests, posted an 8-5-1 record with a 3.13 goals aganst average and a .903 save percentage. Delmas ranked second in the league in playoff games (15) and saves (391), and third in wins (8).

The 6’2’’, 190-pound goaltender played in 149 career regular season games in the QMJHL between 2006 and 2010 with Lewiston, Quebec and Halifax. He served as Jonathan Bernier’s backup with the 2007 President Cup Champions Lewiston MAINEiacs.

A native of Bedford, Nova Scotia, Delmas was invited on a try-out basis at the Club’s rookie and main training camps in 2010-11.
