MONTREAL, QC. — The Canadiens have returned from their four-game road trip. It wasn’t as successful in the win column as the team would have hoped but there was plenty of excitement for Habs fans along the way.

Former Sharks defenseman Douglas Murray was given a warm ovation by the San Jose faithful and heavyweight George Parros received a huge reaction when his new team visited the Honda Center in Anaheim. And following the trade deadline, everyone wanted to have a look at the Marc Bergevin’s prized acquisition Thomas Vanek.

Habs fans are everywhere and they turned out in droves to welcome a rare western tour of their beloved Canadiens.

But more importantly, Blum is an avid hockey fan. He combines his personal and academic passions researching the sociology of sport.

He studies fan evaluations of referees with respect to fairness, why better helmets in football and hockey contribute to dangerous sports, and student athletes’ experiences with school. But in his spare time, he goes to as many hockey games as he can.

Blum’s favorite team is the San Jose Sharks but was in attendance for the recent Canadiens’ games when they met the Kings and the Ducks. He has kindly offered to share his view of the games with Habs fans in the galleries below. All photos by Dinur Blum.
