For over 40 years I have been a loyal die hard Habs fan. My basement is full of autographed Habs players. No person I know loves this team more than I and supports them more. Going through the tough 20 or so years was difficult to watch but with proper management I see them bringing the cup home within the next 3 years. Drafts are critical and we seem to be choosing picks well. Anyone can say I’m wrong and that is fine…but a Chris Nilan type of player is in my view a huge need. Someone that can score some goals, take other top tough guys to task and allow all the players to feel safe from cheap shot clowns like Boston’s got. We get this player and we take the next step. If management goes for the second best option then drafting goal scorers must be addressed. It I so easy to drive from the back seat for sure. I’m proud of the management team and support any choices they make however. God bless our HAB’S!!!!
Hi Tommy,
Every team would love to have the type of player you described. Unfortunately, there aren’t many of them around.
Since the beginning of the season, I have been saying that the Habs are missing a goal scorer to replace Thomas Vanek’s regular season even strength goal production from last season. Vanek didn’t want to play in Montreal and the Canadiens made the right decision by not resigning him.
Habs are off to a great start in the win/loss column, but they will need to produce more often to sustain it for the remainder of the season.
