BULLDOGS SIGN HAMILTON NATIVE KYLE HAGEL

MONTREAL, QC – Montreal Canadiens Executive Vice President and General Manager Marc Bergevin announced the signing of defenceman Kyle Hagel to one-year American Hockey League contract.
Hagel, 27, played seven games for the Peoria Rivermen in 2011-2012, collecting one assist and 15 penalty minutes. In 96-career AHL games with the Peoria Rivermen (2011-2012), the Rockford IceHogs (2009-2011) and the Rochester Americans (2008-2009), the Hamilton, Ontario native has posted 14 points (five goals, nine assists) and 301 penalty minutes. Hagel played 80 games in ECHL with the Las Vegas Wranglers (2009-2010), Reading Royals (2008-2009) and Fresno Falcons (2008-2009) recording 28 points (14 goals, 14 assists) and 220 penalty minutes.
The 6’0”, 210-pound defenceman played four seasons for Princeton University of the Eastern College Athletic Conference from 2004-2008 recording 24 points (12 goals, 12 assists) and 80 penalty minutes in 117 games. Hagel was also a member of the Hamilton Red Wings of the Ontario Provincial Junior “A” Hockey League from 2002-2004 and notched 34 points (eight goals, 26 assists) and 170 penalty minutes in 87 games. Hagel was signed as a free agent by the St. Louis Blues on May 5, 2011.
