Habster:
Matt D’Agostini had a very good freshman year last season with the Bulldogs but has had a so-so season thus far this year. D’Agostini turned some heads at this year’s Canadiens training camp after a slow start, he displayed flashes of an offensive game with his speed to the outside and an excellent shot. He was able to get 3 points (G-2 A-1) in four preseason games which was impressive for a 20 year old. Some hockey observers have unfairly compared his game to that of Hall of Famer Michel Goulet which is certainly putting a lot of pressure on a young player drafted in the 6th round (190th) in 2005.
If Matt D’Agostini can find his scoring touch again and improve his play away from the puck, there is no reason to believe he can’t be a solid NHL player with the Canadiens, maybe even a future replacement for Michael Ryder.
