► Bozon’s ready to go
- Tim Bozon arrived in Montreal and TVA Sports asked the young prospect some questions while at Didier Drogba’s Impact debut.
- Bozon spoke about how he feels coming into camp: “Yeah, it’s going well, I’ve been in Montreal for a week, there’s still another 2-3 [weeks] before training camp. To date its going well I’m training hard and I think I’ll be ready for training camp in September and it’s my objective to give it a shot this year.”
- The 6-foot-2-inch winger on if he has a specific objective for this year’s training camp: “No not really, to go as far as possible, go step by step, it’s finally my first professional season this year so I’m look forward to showing the team I’m back despite my sickness from last year.”
- On if he’s 100 per cent: “Oh yeah, I’m at one-hundred percent, I worked hard for it and for a while so I’m one-hundred percent.”
- On if he’s nervous: “No, not at all, it’s only fun that’s been my mindset since I got sick that it’s only fun in everything I do, I love what I do, there’s always nerves when you’re going into camp but for me it’s only fun and I’m really happy.”
► Two new scouts
- On Monday the Canadiens announced that they have added Eric Crawford and Dave Starman to their scouting staff.
- Crawford will be added to the pro scouting staff likely focusing on the West after spending several years with the Vancouver Canucks. Eric is the younger brother of Marc Crawford.
- Starman is currently a NCAA hockey analyst and will be an amateur scout with a focus on the US College system.
Canadiens today announced the hiring of Eric Crawford as pro scout for the organization, as well as Dave Starman as NCAA scout.

► Fucale at DSkate
- Canadiens prospect Zachary Fucale took time out of his summer to skate with DSkate Hockey, a group that supports hockey for children with diabetes.

► Markov smiled
- The Canadiens’ twitter account compiled all of Andrei Markov’s team pictures from the last nine seasons and it’s pretty entertaining.

► Poulin is a Star
- When gold medalist Marie-Philip Poulin declared herself eligible for the CWHL draft earlier in the summer it was a given that the Montreal Stars would use the 1st overall pick to choose the Beauceville, Quebec native.
- Poulin was a beast at Boston University recording 81 goals and 181 points in 111 games and is the school leader in goals, assists and points.
- The 5’6 forward had this to say back in June about choosing to play in the CWHL: “I gave myself some time to reflect […] and I wanted to come back to Quebec.”
- The Stars held the 3rd overall pick and selected Poulin after the Brampton Thunder chose Sarah Edney 1st overall and the Toronto Furies chose Emily Fulton second overall.
- After getting drafted by her hometown team Poulin was exited: “You can see how women’s hockey has grown over the years. The Montreal organization has done a great job and I’m excited to be able to come back and be close to home to play in front of family and friends.
- The jersey you see Marie-Philip Poulin donning in the following picture is not the one the Montreal organization will be wearing for the upcoming season, they will be choosing a new name and jersey before the season starts. “The choice is down to two very strong directions, and that’s what’s making the choice difficult now.”
► Kessel’s parting words met with mixed reactions
- Phil Kessel has had a rock relationship with Leafs fans throughout his career and that is no different even in Pittsburgh.
- The sniper thanked Leafs fans via Twitter this week and was met with mixed reactions. Kessel had this to say to Leafs fans “I want to thank all of the Toronto fans for all the support you have shown me. I will miss you and this city and always consider Toronto home.”
- Some fans echoed his sentiments and responded with a thank you back to the American but a large majority of fans either noted that the message wasn’t sincere or that it came a month too late.
- Kessel played six seasons in Toronto recording 181 goals and 394 points with the Leafs on his chest.

► Ehrhoff lands in LA
- The salary cap stricken Los Angeles Kings have made a move to help their messy blue line by signing free agent defenceman Christian Ehrhoff to a one-year $1.5 million contract.
- The German D-man was bought out by Buffalo in 2014 with a compliance buy-out and later signed a 1-year $1million contract with the Penguins. The Sabres signed him to a 10-year $40 million contract and bought out the last 7 years. A horrible contract solely considering that he would be 39 at the end of the deal.
- The former 106th overall pick in the 2006 NHL entry draft has played 741 games spanning over 11 seasons in which he has had 72 goals and 327 points. Last season he had three goals and 14 points and a plus-8 rating in 49 games with the Pens.
- He will be battling out of camp for a spot with Brayden McNabb and Derek Forbort. In the likelihood that Forbort starts the season in Manchester, the Kings’ AHL affiliate, Ehrhoff is a veteran stop gap.
- Six out of the seven defenceman on the Kings’ roster or that are vying for a spot are left handed, including their most recent acquisition.
► Russian Hockey Federation fined
- In May Canada won the World Hockey Championship by beating Russia by the final score of 6-1. Evidently the loss was too much for the Russians to the point where only a few players, including Alex Ovechkin, stayed on the ice for the Canadian national anthem.
- The IIHF has just fined the Russian Hockey federation $85,000 for their players’ actions after that game. The RHF are the only team to have ever left the ice before the other team’s national anthem. They now have 7 days to begin the appeal process.
- According to the IIHF the team was lead in this act by Captain Ilya Kovalchuck who made an “unmistakable head gesture” which signaled the players to get off the ice.
- The 2016 World Championships will be held in Russia and there will be no further penalty.
► Talbot undercover
- Boston Bruins forward hit the streets of Montreal as “Tim” and asked some Montrealers what they thought of the Bruins and their players. To be fair, it’s not like they couldn’t recognize a 39 goal scorer.
