All Habs Headlines: Saturday January 2, 2016

On this day in hockey history 1952 — Maurice Richard scored a penalty shot goal 12 seconds into the game, and goaltender Gerry McNeil recorded his 8th career shutout as the Canadiens won 3-0 over the Black Hawks at Chicago.  1961 — Boston rookie Willie O’Ree, the first black player in NHL history, scored his first career goal (the game winner) as the Bruins beat Montreal, 3-2 in Boston.
2004 — Columbus Blue Jackets General Manager Doug MacLean announed that he was relinquishing head coaching duties for the club and named Gerard Gallant as the interim head coach.
