► Bergevin not satisfied? While most NHL teams have completed their major moves by August, it appears that Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin is still trying to land a top-six forward before the regular season starts. Unfortunately the activity has caused amateur rumour mongers to ramp up their speculation generating some of the most ridiculous fantasy hockey type trades imaginable. We’re certainly not going to go there, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see Bergevin make a major trade to address the Habs lack of scoring.

► Cole likes to dream big: Erik Cole is another athlete who demonstrates how to give back to his community. This past weekend, the Canadiens forward was in his hometown of Oswego, New York to host an annual hockey tournament to support the Erik Cole Dream Big Foundation. The foundation was established to support youth hockey programs in the Oswego area, as well as children suffering from cancer and other diseases.
This year the hockey tournament attracted 20 teams from five age divisions and four sled hockey teams.

► Hudon guns for a Team Canada spot: Habs prospect Charles Hudon has spent the summer working out at Complexe Bell Sportif and got a chance to show his stuff at the Team Canada evaluation camp. The Canadiens fifth round pick, 122nd overall at June’s NHL Entry Draft has added some size this summer working with Habs Strength and Conditioning Coach Pierre Allard. Hudon is also starting to realize just what it means to be part of the Canadiens organization.

► Brule heads to Switzerland: You may have heard a great deal of revisionist history about the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, particularly the Canadiens choice of franchise goaltender Carey Price. Needless to say, Price was not a favorite choice of the Montreal media. The mainstream folks had been aggressively advocating two players: Benoit Pouliot and Gilbert Brule.
Habs fans are intimately acquainted with how the Pouliot experiment turned out. As far as Brule, we can politely say that he has been an undeniable bust. Having exhausted his NHL options, Brule has signed a one-year contract with ZSC Lions of the Swiss National League A joining first year coach Marc Crawford.
