On this day in hockey history 1971 — Montreal’s Pete Mahovlich scored his first career NHL hat trick as the Canadiens won 5-3 against the Kings, at Los Angeles.  1990 — Eric Desjardins scored the 15,000th goal in Montreal Canadiens’ history, in the first period of a 6-5 win over the Blues, at the Forum.  2004 — New Jersey’s Martin Brodeur became the first goaltender in NHL history to win 30 games in 9 consecutive seasons. He surpassed Patrick Roy’s record of 8 straight seasons.
