► Weber: Not Here To Replace P.K.
Shea Weber seemed genuine and comfortable during his first media appearence as a member of the Canadiens organization, even when being asked how he would replace the ever-popular P.K. Subban.- During Michel Therrien’s golf tournament, Weber spoke, among many other things, about his commitment to winning superseding any sort of popularity contest.
- “I’m not one to follow that kind of stuff,” he said. “I understand that P.K. is a very popular player here and the fans are very passionate so hopefully I can come here and help this team win. That’s the bottom line, winning games.”
- He also spoke about how he replaced Subban as one of the team’s alternate captains, “It means a lot. I wasn’t expecting that at all, being new to the team,” he said. “I’m very grateful.”
► Shaw On Weber
- Being in the same division for the entirety of their careers, Andrew Shaw and Shea Weber have become at least somewhat accustomed to each other, hence Shaw’s certainty that Montreal will accept him.
- During his turn at the Montreal media scrum, Shaw had no hesitation in assuring the Montreal faithful and media alike, that they’ll be praising Shea Weber in the streets with positive messages in no time.
- “The fans are going to fall in love with Weber,” one of a trio of newest Canadiens told the media Tuesday. “Shea Weber was the worst defenceman to play against. He’s broken two of my ribs.”
- Shaw has played more games against Weber’s Predators than he has against any other NHL team, recording seven goals and 16 points in 24 games.

► Turn In Your Creds Please
- The mainstream media in Montreal continues to sink to new lows this off-season. Max Pacioretty offered a curt “No” when asked if he had considered giving up the captaincy to Shea Weber. The ‘reporter’ should be ashamed for asking such a disrespectful question.

► Top Five Talent
- After an extensive media scrum one month prior to the commencement of training camp, it is clear that Max Pacioretty is very fond of Alex Radulov’s talent.
- At the quasi-infamous Michel Therrien golf tournament, Pacioretty was very complimentary towards one of his newest teammates saying, “He could be one of the top-5 skilled players in the world right now.”
- “That’s a guy as soon as we signed him I looked at his highlights on YouTube and I got goosebumps because this guy is one of the most skilled players in the world, and I’m really excited to play with him,” Pacioretty continued.
- Many line combinations have been suggested by fans, some of which see the New Caanan, Connecticut native playing with Radulov, although whether or not the pair would see themselves on the same line, obviously, remains to be seen.
► The Stars’ Time To Shine
- Despite multiple holes on this Dallas Stars roster, they nevertheless possess one of the most dynamic offensive clubs in the league.
- In an interview on the Stars official website, Tyler Seguin spoke of the team’s window officially opening and the team’s endeavours into the postseason. “It’s huge. You can talk about playoffs all you want, but until you win a game, until you lose a game, until you win a series, until you lose a series, you don’t know that taste and what it’s like,” he said.
- “Our window just opened, and I think every team’s got kind of that window that opens where you can win a championship, so that parts exciting,” expressed Seguin. “Getting a veteran guy like Hamhuis, it makes you even more excited for the season to start.”

► Kings Have To Deal With Lucic Loss
- Despite the fact Milan Lucic was entirely willing to remain in Los Angeles (the Kings were simply cash-strapped) his departure will be something the entire team needs to address.
- During a conversation with NHL.com, Kings forward Tyler Toffoli spoke to the team not needing to look retrospectively and to improve upon seasons past.
- “It’s tough. He’s a great player, a great guy to have in the room. But he’s moved on and we’re going to have to play against him and play hard against him,” Toffoli told Curtis Zupke.
- The Kings have been subjected to bitter disappointment in years past, something they’re looking to correct “[…] After the past two seasons, it’s a disappointment for us. We know what we had, especially last year. We let ourselves down.”
► Ovechkin Good To Go For WC
- Over the weekend reports surfaced that suggested Alex Ovechkin would be absent from the World Cup of Hockey due to an injury, an allegation extinguished by the Capitals PR department.
- Washington Capitals public relations representative Sergei Kocharov quelled all rumours Tuesday, “Spoke to Alex today. No truth to this rumor [of him being injured] Alex is in Moscow, continues to train for WC and upcoming NHL season.”
- Ovechkin is probably the most outwardly patriotic of the players participating in the upcoming tournament, stating on many an occasions that should the NHL not participate in the Olympic, he would still go.
- In 12 career games during the Olympic Games, Ovechkin scored seven goals, adding two assists to his point total.
