All Habs Headlines: Monday April 13, 2015
	On this day in hockey history… 1930 – Montreal beat Boston 4-3 at the Forum, to win the 1930 Stanley Cup Championship in two straight games. For the defending Cup champ Bruins, who had the best regular season record (38-5-1), it marked their first back-to-back losses of the year.

► Montreal Canadiens: April 13

After having a day off on Sunday to enjoy their success of the regular season, the Canadiens were back on the ice on Monday at the Bell Sports Complex in Brossard.
Max Pacioretty was a welcome sight taking part in the full practice skating on a line with David Desharnais and P.A. Parenteau. Pacioretty confirmed that he has not yet been cleared for contact and is suffering from an upper body injury. His participation in Wednesday’s game against the Senators is unclear. Pacioretty wore a tinted visor in practice.
About his injury, Pacioretty said, “At this point of the year, I have an obligation to say that I have an upper-body injury, and obviously, you don’t want to give anybody a little bit of a competitive edge by telling them what it really is.”

► Lines and defense pairings at practice

Habs did not run line drills today. Here was the alignment of the power-play units:

Pacioretty – Desharnais – Parenteau / Smith-Pelly
Markov – Subban

Galchenyuk – Plekanec – Gallagher
Petry – Beaulieu / Gilbert

► Mansbridge on Price

Carey Price is a leader on and off the ice for the Montreal Canadiens. CBC’s Peter Mansbridge interviewed Price for a piece on the National describing him as a quiet, down-to-earth country guy who is living his dream. Mansbridge writes, “Carey told me he used to fall asleep in the back of the truck dreaming of the day he’d play in the NHL.”
It is truly a storybook tale as “[Carey] went from that frozen creek to the Bell Centre in Montreal, where he’s now considered by many to be the best goalie in the world.”
Price is the rock of the Montreal Canadiens. Mansbridge writes that “Angela is Carey’s rock, they’ve been together since he was 17. Nothing much happens anywhere near their south shore home unless she gives the okay.”

► Thompson’s magic

Video editor Tim Thompson has created an emotional pump-up video for the Montreal Canadiens.

The Canadiens are Atlantic Division champions and finished second place in the Eastern Conference. As a result, they will face the Ottawa Senators in the first round of the playoffs.
This will be the second time in three years that they will face each other in post season action, the last match up having gone to the Sens in five games. Also in the regular season, Ottawa edged the Canadiens three games to one.

It will be interesting to watch the best goaltender in the world, Carey Price, face-off against the hottest goaltender in the league, Andrew Hammond.
Another pair of players to watch will be P.K. Subban and Erik Karlsson. The two defensemen are two of the best at their position and certainly two of the most electrifying. They seem to be able to make something out of nothing, especially offensively.
Other players to watch are Mark Stone (Sens forward has been playing his best hockey up to date); Lars Eller (who has been playing very well lately); and Max Pacioretty (who is currently out with an upper body injury and his questionable return will be crucial to the Canadiens.)

► Not too old yet

Jarmir Jagr is one of the best players to ever play the game of hockey and it was announced on the first day of the off season that the Panthers have re-signed him to a one-year deal.
Jagr had this to say following the announcement, “a lot of people thought I was done but those young guys give me extra energy, extra life and I’m glad I can continue to play.”
The Panthers’ owner, Vincent Viola, praised him saying,”Jaromir is a true professional in every sense of the word and a world-class player. This signing further shows our commitment to building a competitive and winning team in South Florida. In just 20 games, he has become a fan favorite and we look forward to his continued contributions to our organization.”
Jagr is currently fourth all-time in NHL career regular season points and fifth in career playoff points. He is also a member of the Triple Gold Club. Having another season of Jamir Jagr will certainly give hockey fans something to look forward to!

► Get set

The Stanley Cup Playoffs are unlike anything else in sports. Sure other sports have their trophies, and they may be more important to players and fans of those sports, but the Stanley Cup is the holy grail of sports trophies.
The NHL starts the season with 30 teams, only 16 of the best making it to the playoffs and then round by round, teams get eliminated in best-of-seven series, until one team is left standing. One team will hoist the Stanley Cup. Players will be distinguished, records dismantled, hearts broken, and dreams made true. It really is the most wonderful time of the year. Buckle up, it’s going to be a long ride.
