All Habs Headlines: Sunday November 1, 2015  

On this day in hockey history 1945 — Gordie Howe (at age 16) signed his first professional hockey contract, with the Omaha Knights of the United States Hockey League.  1952 — Jacques Plante, called up by Montreal to replace injured goalie Gerry McNeil, beat NY Rangers 4-1, in his first NHL start. In his three game replacement trial he went 2-0-1 giving up only four goals, before being returned to the Montreal Royals.
