Kings for four draft picks, who ended up being Gary MacGregor, Pierre Mondou, Paul Woods and Rod Schutt. 1974 — Montreal Canadiens star Dickie Moore was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame. 1988 — The Rangers signed Guy Lafleur. 1977 — Former Canadiens defenceman Jean-Guy Talbot becomes the 16th coach in the history of the New York Rangers. He replaced former Canadiens tough guy John Ferguson behind the Ranger bench. 1985 — Philadelphia Flyers forward Bill Barber announced his retirement from the NHL due to ongoing injury issues. |

► Rad’s Here!
- The Canadiens and their fans have been waiting a considerable time for a sniper to be added to the ranks. Has he finally arrived. Alexander Radulov, a July 1st acquisition by Marc Bergevin, made his first appearance at Brossard on Monday.
- Radulov took to the ice for the first time wearing the CH with several teammates including Mikhail Sergachev, Nikita Scherbak, and captain Max Pacioretty.
- When meeting with the media, Radulov spoke with excitement about being back in the NHL with a chance to win the Stanley Cup.
- The Russian winger will don number 47 this season. AR47 will hopefully replicate the best days of AK47.

► Enroth to Leafs
- The Toronto Maple Leafs have completed the makeover of the goaltending corps by signing Jhonas Enroth to the one-year, $750,000 contract. Enroth is expected to back up newly-acquired starter Frederik Andersen.
- Enroth spent last season with the Los Angeles Kings posting a 7-5-1 record.

► Trotz On The Trade
- The discussion that’s taken place over the course of the last couple months about Shea Weber has now turned to complacency, now, the topic that’s been beaten to death.
- Former Nashville Predators head coach Barry Trotz was recently interview by Yahoo’s Puck Daddy and gave his opinion on, among other things, the deal that sent his former captain to Montreal.
- “P.K. likes to carry the mail, likes to skate, is all over the ice. Shea is positionally very strong, moves the puck out, moves up with the play and finishes. He scores goals with his shot. He’s not going to make those end-to-end rushes that P.K. tries every shift,” said Trotz.
- “They’re totally different players. I do know this, our players who play against Shea Weber, they know Shea Weber is on the ice and he’s hard to play against,”said Trotz of the Canadiens’ number six.
► Top Five
- EA Sports continues to reveal player ratings for the upcoming NHL 17. Following their announcement that the Canadiens have both the best defenceman, Shea Weber, and goaltender, Carey Price, in the game, the video game gave ratings for left wingers.
- Max Pacioretty was ranked as the fifth best left winger in the game, and was ranked as the third highest rated at his position, tied with Zach Parise with an 89 rating.
- Rounding out the top ten was, in order, Jaime Benn (94), Alex Ovechkin (94), Taylor Hall (90), Johnny Gaudreau (90), Daniel Sedin (88), Filip Forsberg (88), Gabriel Landeskog (88) and Alex Steen (88).
- Pacioretty’s overall rank stayed constant since last year, with his point total hovering around the same mark as years past, despite a reduction in his goal totals. This can be attributed to prolonged slumps, and playing with fellow 30-goal scorer Alex Galchenyuk.
► Canada’s Kane And Toews
- There’s no doubt the Calgary Flames have multiple holes on their roster, however that doesn’t take away from the brilliance of their two young stars, one of which is still in need of an extension.
- According to Craig Custance of ESPN, the contract that winger Johnny Gaudreau will sign with the Flames will be parallel to that of the team’s number one center, Sean Monahan.
- “I’d expect Gaudreau deal to end up looking very similar to Monahan’s. Flames see this as Kane/Toews situation,” Custance noted via Twitter this week.
- Monahan signed a seven-year deal worth $6.375 million annually a couple days ago, should Calgary be able to lock up Gaudreau to a similar contract, that would be an absolute steal for a Canadian club yearning for a return to postseason hockey.
- Last season Monahan recorded 27 goals and 63 points in 81 games last season, meanwhile donning an “A”, while Gaudreau led the team in goals (30) and points (78) in 79 games.

► Tavares Yet To Grasp Reality Off-Season Moves
- John Tavares saying he won’t be going to Toronto was great for Leafs fans, so they can now go and wait and start rumours based out of nothing when Connor McDavid is even relatively close to free agency, that same Tavares spoke of his team’s offseason moves.
- While speaking with Arthur Staple of Newsday, Tavares spoke on the subtract ions of the likes of Frans Nielsen and Kyle Okposo and the additions of Andrew Ladd among others.
- “It hasn’t even really sunk in, maybe until you don’t see them at training camp or during the season, and that hasn’t happened yet,” Tavares told Newsday last week.
- “I don’t think people realize how much I lean on Kyle and Frans, as well as guys like Travis [Hamonic], Clutter [Cal Clutterbuck], Johnny Boychuk. When you have people you can rely on, especially with those friendships I have with Kyle and Frans are deep,” said Tavares.
► Getzlaf Prepping For World Cup
- Ryan Getzlaf’s career has been plagued by consistent playoff inadequacies, but now, with the World Cup Of Hockey just around the corner, he needs to be at his best for more elimination competition.
- “I tried to simulate what I would do for camp and I’ve been back working out,” Getzlaf said. “I think that the amount of skating and stuff I’ve been doing is a lot more and it’s a lot earlier.”
- “These next two weeks are going to be about trying to get up to that speed where we’re playing at a high level.” Getzlaf’s told NHL.com’s Abbey Mastracco.
- “We’re going into a playoff-type atmosphere, so we’ve got to be ready to go,” Getzlaf said. “We’re going to have to ramp it up.”
- Getzlaf’s played seven games for Canada at the Olympics during his only sequence as a member of the club, recording three goals and four assists over that time frame.
► Ah Yes, The Patented Neeson Approach
- Jimmy Vesey surprised the majority of people when signing with the sinking ship of an organization that is the New York Rangers and evidently they pulled out the oddest of stops to acquire his services.
- Mark Divver of the Providence Journal reported this week that the Rangers recorded a message from actor Liam Neeson encouraging the Harvard alum to sign in New York, using a line he’s probably incredibly tired of saying.
- “Hearing NYR sales pitch included video that concluded with Liam Neeson saying, ‘Jimmy, if you don’t sign with the Rangers, I will find you!'” said Divver via Twitter.
- According to my fictional sources, the Canadiens’ “Montreal Experience” was putting Vesey in a virtual reality machine and having the machine virtually trade him if he shows any emotion.
