On this day in hockey history… 1972 — The Canadiens dealt Terry Harper to the L.A. Kings for four draft picks, who ended up being Gary MacGregor, Pierre Mondou, Paul Woods and Rod Schutt. 1974 — Montreal Canadiens star Dickie Moore was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame. 1988 — The Rangers signed Guy Lafleur. 1977 — Former Canadiens defenceman Jean-Guy Talbot becomes the 16th coach in the history of the New York Rangers. He replaced former Canadiens tough guy John Ferguson behind the Ranger bench. 1985 — Philadelphia Flyers forward Bill Barber announced his retirement from the NHL due to ongoing injury issues.
