On this day in hockey history 1982 The Flyers traded Kenny “The Rat” Linesman to Hartford.  1986 — Montreal Canadiens obtained goaltender Brian Hayward from the Winnipeg Jets, in exchange for goalie Steve Penney.  1988 — The Rangers signed 37-year old Guy Lafleur to a one-year contract.
