All Habs Headlines: Saturday January 16, 2016

On this day in hockey history 1960 — Gordie Howe scored a goal and an assist in his 888th career game to become the NHL’s all time leading scorer, with 947 points. He passed Montreal’s Maurice Richard as the Red Wings beat Chicago 3-1 in Detroit.  1966 — Chicago’s Bobby Hull scored four times (his 17th career hat trick) to become the first player in team history to score 300 goals.  1982 — Edmonton’s rookie goalie Grant Fuhr saw his 23-game unbeaten streak end with a 7-1 Oilers’ loss in Toronto. Fuhr’s 15-0-8 streak had begun on Oct. 21, 1981, after a loss in his first career NHL game.
