Game Report

Be patient. That was our message when fans were calling for the head of Mike Hoffman on a platter. Despite his apparent slow start in the goals column, his underlying numbers were all good. Hoffman was creating scoring chances, it was only a matter of time.

Fast forward to tonight: Hoffman now has four goals in the last three games including the game-winner in overtime against the Penguins. Hoffman was set up by Kirby Dach who has at least one point in seven of his last eight games.

The Canadiens have won three games in a row.

Montreal took advantage of one of the worst defensive clubs in the league firing 42 shots, 19 alone in the second period.

Up Next

The Canadiens will next host the New Jersey Devils at the Bell Centre on Tuesday night.

Post-game Quotes

Marty St. Louis

  • “It’s a great atmosphere and it’s our responsibility to keep that atmosphere. You have to pay attention to the results. It brings a lot of enthusiasm, but when you don’t have the results, you have to keep this atmosphere. We will correct the mistakes and we must keep this mentality.”
  • “(Kirby) Dach plays the game. Not his game, the game, the game. It is a sign of intelligence. He absorbs and applies and we show him. It’s our job. He has no pressure to win faceoffs. He plays freely.”

Nick Suzuki

  • “[Kirby Dach] is an incredible player and person. We get along well off the ice, we spend a lot of time together. With [Cole Caufield], we constantly talk on the bench and in the dressing room about what more we could do.”
