With a fifth round selection in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, 147th overall, the Montreal Canadiens select:
Jarret Tszyka, D, Seattle Thunderbirds (WHL)
March 15, 1999 | Langley, BC, Canada
6-2, 187 lbs. | Shoots L | @JarretTyszka_11
2016-’17: 54 GP, 6 G, 19 A, 25 PTS (Seattle Thunderbirds)
CSB: No. 41 (NA Skaters) | ISS: No. 57 | HP: No. 121 | FC: No. 61
Jarret Tyszka gets comparisons to Kyle Quincy. He is a standup defenseman who keeps things simple. He focuses on solid positioning, and uses his high end skating ability and speed to keep opposing forwards honest.
Tyszka also has some offensive skills. He likes to use his agility to walk the offensive blueline to open up shooting lanes. He does very well to keep his shots low and on net to allow his teammates the opportunity to create traffic and dig away at any rebounds and deflections he can generate.
