The Edmonton Journal:
LOOKING DOWN THE ROAD
Canadiens GM Bob Gainey told the media in Montreal on Monday, he’s not happy with their faceoffs (they’re 26th in the NHL at 48.1-per-cent efficiency). Sources in Montreal say one of the guys he’s keeping an eye on is Oilers centre Jarret Stoll, who had one of his better games of the year (two points, only his fourth multiple-point game). He also won seven of 12 face-offs, and is winning 53.8 percent on the year, which puts him in the top 20 in the league.
Habster:
Jarret Stoll is having an average season but has been playing well recently. He is a solid two way center who could add more depth and scoring to the Canadiens third line (with Maxim Lapierre going down to the fourth line?). Could the Habs acquire Stoll?….anything is possible but who would the Canadiens have to give up?
It’s pretty obvious Kevin Lowe is rebuilding whether he will admit it or not so you’d think he would want a good young player in return or a combination of young player and mid/later draft pick. Jarret Stoll is making $2.2 million this season and will be a RFA next year so he has trade value for Kevin Lowe to get something in return. Time will tell if this rumour has legs…..I know Jarret’s beautiful girlfriend, model Rachel Hunter has nice legs, among other things!!!
