Is Koivu Trying To Convince Selanne To Become a Hab?

SI.com (Allan Muir):

Teemu in Montreal?
If the Ducks won’t allow Selanne to play another short season, would another team extend him the courtesy? There’s been buzz before linking the Finnish Flash to the Canadiens, primarily because of his relationship with Saku Koivu, and there’s again a discernible hum suggesting that Selanne is interested in closing out his career in La Belle Province. The 38-year-old appears to have a little something left after scoring 26 points in 23 games with Anaheim last season, but it’s hard to believe GM Bob Gainey would grant him the latitude to pick his own start date. It’d be fun to see vets Selanne and Koivu line up together in the NHL, but classify this rumor as a longshot.

Habster:
Let’s be totally honest for a moment……for the past two years, there has been these constant rumours or hearsay which indicates that Saku Koivu is trying to convince Teemu Selanne to come to Montreal. Canadiens fans hold their collective breathes and hope it comes true but I wouldn’t hold your breath once again.
The only intriguing aspect of this rumour is that it doesn’t appear to be from the Montreal media. I also verified the media print from the California area and other various media outlets for any actual quotes from Brian Burke (My rough translation of RDS: Brian Burke believes that it is possible that Selanne will finally decides to accept the Canadiens offer) but have not been able to find any…….believe me, when Burke is quoted in the media, it’s usually very easy to find so I have my doubts.
If anything, it certainly will be a little easier to try to sell Selanne on joining a team which will be a strong contender to get to the Stanley Cup next season………rumour or fact, it’s still fun to hope!!!!
