I would think the question should be: Is Pens’ Staal on thin ice?
But with that being said, I’m not totally convinced Marian Hossa will sign with Pittsburgh before the July 1st UFA deadline which makes the Malkin or Staal dilemma a moot point of discussion.
I’m also not sold on Hossa and his agent, Rich Winter accepting a “substantial” Stanley Cup contender discount or even the status quo as far his annual take home pay is concerned………things will get interesting as the UFA deadline approaches.
