KIM NAVARRO AND RUSS COURTNALL ARE THE SECOND “ICED” PAIR ON BATTLE OF THE BLADES
Tanith Belbin and Boyd Devereaux return for another week

TORONTO – October 10, 2011 – Kim Navarro and Russ Courtnall skated for their survival tonight on BATTLE OF THE BLADES, but their performance fell short and they have become the second “iced” pair on the third season of this live competitive TV series. The Tourette’s Syndrome Neurodevelopmental Clinic at Toronto Western Hospital will receive a $25,000 donation in their honour.
The pair Tanith Belbin and Boyd Devereaux, also in the bottom two, will continue to compete for their chance to win a $100,000 donation to their chosen charities, the Montreal Neurological Institute and Epilepsy Huron-Perth-Bruce.
This week NHL hockey legend and two-time Stanley Cup winner Mark Napier provided his insightful commentary on each pair’s performance as Guest Judge along with remarks from Head Judge Sandra Bezic. Also, Paul Martini, Canadian Sports Hall of Famer and World Figure Skating Champion, sat in for Jeremy Roenick in the Resident Judge chair on the Sunday, October 9th performance show. Shae-Lynn Bourne, former BATTLE OF THE BLADES competitor and Canadian Figure Skating Hall of Famer, sat in as Resident Judge on Monday, October 10th for the results show.
Broadcast from the MasterCard Centre on Sunday, October 16 at 8 p.m. (8:30 p.m. NT) on CBC, the six pairs returning to compete on the ice are: Violetta Afanasieva and Cale Hulse; Tanith Belbin and Boyd Devereaux; Elena Berezhnaya and Curtis Leschyshyn; Tessa Bonhomme and David Pelletier; Marie-France Dubreuil and Bryan Berard and Anabelle Langlois and Brad May. The next dramatic, half-hour “skate-off” results show is on Monday, October 17 at 8 p.m. (8:30 p.m. NT).
