MONTREAL, QC. — It was a superb game by Canadiens center Lars Eller. He opened the scoring at the 7:02 mark of the first period. At times, Eller dominated forcing turnovers and creating scoring chances. “Lars Eller was phenomenal tonight,” said head coach Michel Therrien. “Lars skated well. He’s having fun.”
The game was tied 3-3 after three periods. Overtime settled nothing.
Ottawa’s Jakob Silfverberg and Alex Galchenyuk traded goals in the shootout. David Desharnais failed on his attempt, and Carey Price came up big against Daniel Alfredsson and Kyle Turris.
That set the stage for Eller to end the game against Senators goaltender Robin Lehner and send the Bell Centre faithful home happy.
