Lefebvre Leads Juniors to 8th Straight Victory

MONTREAL, QC–Montreal Canadiens’ prospect Philippe Lefebvre scored two goals and was awarded with the first star of the game as the Montreal Juniors won 5-2 at the expense of the visiting Cape Breton Screaming Eagles in front of a small home crowd of 1604 fans. The win was the Juniors’ eighth in a row and placed them at the top of their division, as they now hold a record of 15-3-2-1.

Lefebvre now has ten goals on the year. The Trois-Rivières native also finished with a +3 rating.

Other future members of the Habs present in this matchup were Louis Leblanc of the Juniors and Morgan Ellis of the Eagles. Both finished on the minus side, but Ellis was very present in the game as the Eagles’ captain was one of the leaders in ice-time and featured prominently in the Eagles’ six power plays.

The Juniors outshot their opponents 36-35. They next face Gatineau at the Centre Robert Guertin on Saturday afternoon at 4 before returning to the Verdun Auditorium to face the Drummondville Voltigeurs the following day at 3:05 p.m. The latter opponent was the former head of the Telus Division before tonight’s game and are undefeated in regulation through their last four games, holding the ninth rank in the CHL Top 10 this week. As for Gatineau, they are 7-2-0-1 in their last stretch of ten and are also looking to get ahead in the Telus.
