Game Report

The Canadiens are on a five-game winning streak, currently the longest in the NHL. And they have moved out of the basement into 31st place in the league.

Tonight it was Artturi Lehkonen leading the way providing all of the Montreal offence. Lehkonen is tied for third in goal scoring and is second to Nick Suzuki in points. The 26-year-old is increasing his trade value which was already quite high.

The Canadiens played another solid game defensively with the top pairing of Ben Chiarot and Alexander Romanov leading the way. Chiarot has an assists, two blocked shots and had a plus-2 rating in 23:36 of ice-time .

Andrew Hammond had successful homecoming to Ottawa. Hammond can be grateful to his teammates who limited the Senators to just two high-danger scoring chances in the final 40 minutes.

Up Next

The Canadiens continue their five-game road trip by travelling to Winnipeg for a Tuesday night contest against the Jets.

Post-game Quotes

Marty St. Louis

  • “[Artturi Lehkonen] is an excellent defensive player and tonight he was rewarded with goals.”

Brendan Gallagher

  • “There’s something about this building, [Artturi Lehkonen] likes playing here. You’ll know the number better than I do, but I feel like he scores a lot here. Some guys have teams they enjoy playing against and (Lehkonen) enjoys coming to the nation’s capital.”
