Leschyshyn, Berezhnaya Bounced from Battle of the Blades

ELENA BEREZHNAYA AND CURTIS LESCHYSHYN ARE “ICED”
IN THE SECOND THREE-WAY SKATE-OFF ON BATTLE OF THE BLADES
Tessa Bonhomme and David Pelletier and Marie-France Dubreuil and Bryan Berard move on to the finale week

CBC News Release

TORONTO – November 7, 2011 – For the second time on BATTLE ON THE BLADES this season, the bottom three pairs competed in the weekly “skate-off” since both 4th and 5th place were only .002 per cent apart. After combining the judges’ scores and fans’ votes, a national audit firm recommended that all three pairs with the lowest marks compete in tonight’s elimination episode. This meant that Elena Berezhnaya and Curtis Leschyshyn, Tessa Bonhomme and David Pelletier and Marie-France Dubreuil and Bryan Berard skated for their survival. Elena and Curtis have become the fifth “iced” pair on the third season of this live competitive TV series. The Children’s Hospital Foundation of Saskatchewan will receive a $25,000 donation in Elena and Curtis’ honour.

One of the greatest ice dancers history, Christopher Dean provided his insightful commentary on each pair’s performance as Guest Judge along with remarks from Head Judge Sandra Bezic and Resident Judge Jeremy Roenick this week on BATTLE OF THE BLADES.

Broadcast from the MasterCard Centre on Sunday, November 13 at 8 p.m. (8:30 p.m. NT) on CBC, the three pairs moving on to the season finale are: Tanith Belbin and Boyd Devereaux; Tessa Bonhomme and David Pelletier and Marie-France Dubreuil and Bryan Berard. The winning pair will be crowned as champions in next week’s dramatic, half-hour “skate-off” results show in the final episode of season 3 on Monday, November 14 at 8 p.m. (8:30 p.m. NT).
