L’indiscipline complique tout

Here is a summary from another article from Marc De Foy

Looking at the last five games, you’d believe the Montreal Canadiens got themselves season tickets to the penalty box. They had to defend 36 times on penalty killing and allowed 11 goals. It’s way too much.

“It’s complicating our job” said Koivu after the game.

“We had to defend multiple times at 5 on 3 or 4 on 3 in our last games. Half of our team is has to stay on the bench while the other half tries to kill penalties. It kills the tempo.”

Work on Defense

Discipline isn’t the only problem for Saku. He feels the team relies too much on it’s offensive potential.

“We are able to score 2 or 3 goals in one period but we create too many turnovers.”

“We also have to work on our neutral zone and defensive zone”

Short memory

The Canadien allowed 14 goals in their last three games, 4 to the Islanders, 4 to the Blue Jackets and 6 against the Leafs.

“They teach us good things in practice but we don’t use it in our games” said Bouillon.

“We have to go back to basics”

Carbonneau saw a good side to the humiliating games against the Leafs.

“That’s the kind of game you want to forget as soon as possible. The good thing is we don’t have to wait five days to play our next game.”

“We’ll face good teams and we’ll have to play better as a team. We’ll talk on Monday and pick up where we want to be.”

Four games this week

The players were off practice yesterday but went to the Bell Center for promotional activities. They’ll practice on Monday to prepare for Tuesday’s game against the Ottawa Senators.

It will be a busy week since they’ll be in Boston Thursday before coming back to face the Flyers on Saturday. They will then leave for a three games road trip that will lead them to St-Louis on Sunday, Carolina on Tuesday and Ottawa Thursday.
