Meet Guy Carbonneau, Host the Stanley Cup

by Rick Stephens, AllHabs.net

MONTREAL, QC. — There is nothing like the Stanley Cup. It is one of the most recognizable championship trophies in sports. Every hockey fan no matter the age has imagined holding it, and raising it over their head.

In addition to favorite current players, there are also hockey heroes of the past that we admire. They have been leaders on their team and have won Stanley Cups. What would it be like to sit and ‘talk hockey’ with them?

What if I told you that for one lucky person, both of those dreams can come true?

Pepsi, Lay’s and Gatorade are sponsoring a program called Bring Home a Stanley Cup Champion. Depending on your region, you could be receiving a visit from Mark Messier, Guy Carbonneau or Doug Gilmour to watch a May playoff game with your in your home. One of the hockey legends will bring with him the Stanley Cup, an entertainment center, and other goodies to make it an amazing experience for you and your family.

“As hockey players, I think I can safely speak for Doug and Guy, when I say that we all know the thrill and excitement of holding the Stanley Cup and what it’s like to look up to some of our favourite Stanley Cup Champions,” said Mark Messier, former Stanley Cup champion. “The Bring Home a Stanley Cup Champion program encourages Canadians to share their passion for the game and we look forward to delivering a significant piece of that hockey history to one standout fan.”

Guy Carbonneau will represent the Quebec and the Atlantic regions. Carbonneau was a captain of the Montreal Canadiens winning Stanley Cups in 1986 and 1993. He won a third Cup in 1999 with the Dallas Stars.

Carbonneau was kind enough to answer a few questions we posed to him recently. I am pleased to share a brief video clip of his responses with you.

All Habs Hockey Magazine and the fine folks at Bring Home a Stanley Cup Champion have teamed up to give All Habs readers an extra chance to win.
