Game Report

The Canadiens power-play has gone from sputtering to dormant and it’s clear that assistant coach Alex Burrows is not the man with the answers. Montreal went 0-for-3 with the man advantage while Mike Hoffman came up empty on a penalty shot.

After seven games, the Habs had one power-play goal on 21 opportunities for a 4.8 percent success rate. That places them 31st in the league.

An anemic Montreal power-play seemed to suck the oxygen out of the Bell Centre tonight. It was exactly what a struggling Wild team needed — along with numerous Canadiens’ giveaways — to earn just their second win of the season.

Jordan Harris continues to impress. The young defenseman led the Canadiens with 25:09 of ice-time, including 3:33 while short-handed. Harris also blocked a team-high seven shots during the game.

Marc-Andre Fleury has had a difficult start to the season coming into the game with a goals against average over 5.00. Fleury gave up a weak goal to Cole Caufield but made 26 saves for the win.

The Canadiens have won just once in the last 14 matches against the Wild.

The Canadiens head out for a four-game road trip that will bring them to Buffalo, St. Louis, Minnesota and Winnipeg. Montreal will face the Sabres on Thursday night.
