What to Expect: In this, the 100th year anniversary of the NHL’s most successful franchise, a trip to the Stanley Cup final is not out of the question. Gainey has done an excellent job recruiting and developing prospects and has shown impressive restraint in not overpaying potential unrestricted free agents. Gainey brought in Tanguay, made a push for Mats Sundin and when he couldn’t convince the former Maple Leafs captain to sign, settled for Lang instead. Don’t be surprised if Gainey acquires one more impact forward during the season.
