MONTREAL, QC. — After the Canadiens beat the Rangers at Madison Square Garden, New York coach John Tortorella claimed that “It was two bad teams playing, and we were worse than they were.” He couldn’t come up with a complimentary word for the play of his opponent.
It seems that Eastern Conference teams are just having trouble explaining why they were beaten by the team that occupied the basement last season.
Bruins coach Claude Julien took his shot after the Habs left the TD Bank Garden ice with two points on Sunday night.
“This is embarrassing for our game, the embellishing. Right now, they’ve got over 100 power plays so far. It’s pretty obvious why. We’re trying to clean that out of our game. It’s got to be done soon. Because it’s not about tonight. It’s about the game. The embellishment embarrasses our game. We’ve got to be better about that. It’s pretty obvious when P.K. [Subban] gets hit, he throws himself into the glass and holds his head.” — Claude Julien
It seems that the Bruins coach went back to a stale message rather than acknowledge that the Canadiens are the best opponent that they have faced all season. Julien relied on an old reliable stream of criticism that caught the attention of the Daily Show’s Jon Stewart awhile back.

This montage is brilliant, and incredibly well done.
