Official Release: Blunden Returned to Hamilton

CANADIENS ASSIGN BLUNDEN TO BULLDOGS

04/12/2014 9:04 PM -MONTREAL, QUEBEC – Montreal Canadiens and Hamilton Bulldogs General Manager Marc Bergevin announced today the Canadiens have assigned forward Mike Blunden to the Bulldogs.

Blunden has split this season between Hamilton and Montreal. In 66 games with Hamilton, the 6’4”, 214-pound defenceman has recorded 36 points (18 goals, 18 assists) and 79 penalty minutes. In seven games with Montreal, the Toronto, Ontario native has recorded no points and five penalty minutes.

In 377 career American Hockey League regular season games with the Norfolk Admirals, Rockford IceHogs, Syracuse Crunch, Springfield Falcons and Bulldogs, the 27-year-old has recorded 186 points (83 goals, 103 assists) and 461 penalty minutes. In 102 career National Hockey League games with the Chicago Blackhawks, Columbus Blue Jackets and Canadiens, he has recorded eight points (four goals, four assists) and 105 penalty minutes.

Blunden was originally selected by the Blackhawks in the second round (43rd overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

Hamilton’s next game is scheduled for Tuesday, April 15th when the ‘Dogs will visit the Lake Erie Monsters (AHL affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche) at Quicken Loans Arena at 7:00 p.m. The Bulldogs will return to FirstOntario Centre on Saturday, April 19th, when they will host the Syracuse Crunch (AHL affiliate of the Tampa Bay Lightning) at 7:00 p.m.
