MONTREAL, QC – Hamilton Bulldogs General Manager Marc Bergevin announced today that the Club has signed forward Darryl Boyce to a 25-game professional try-out contract. As per club policy, financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Boyce, 28, has spent parts of three seasons in the National Hockey League with the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Columbus Blue Jackets, registering 18 points (six goals, 12 assists) and 68 penalty minutes in 84 regular season games. The 6’0”, 200-pound forward has played in 191 regular season games over five seasons in the American Hockey League with the Toronto Marlies, recording 91 points (32 goals, 59 assists), 320 penalty minutes.
Prior to turning professional, the native Summerside, P.E.I played two seasons with New Brunswick of Canadian Interuniversity Sport and notched 65 points (29 goals, 36 assists) in 53 regular season games. Boyce also spent four seasons with the Toronto St. Michael’s Majors of the Ontario Hockey League registering 145 points (54 goals, 91 assists) and 452 penalty minutes in 262 regular season games. Boyce led the team in scoring with 50 points (15 goals, 35 assists) in 67 regular season games during the 2004-2005 season. Boyce was originally signed by the Toronto Maple Leafs on January 1st, 2008.
The Hamilton Bulldogs are currently in Trenton, Ontario to continue training camp with on-ice sessions and team-building activities at 8 Wing/CFB Trenton. The ‘Dogs will open their two-game pre-season schedule against the Toronto Marlies tomorrow, Saturday, October 6th at 7 p.m. at Cobourg Community Centre in Cobourg, Ontario. The game will be broadcast live on Funny 820 and hamiltonbulldogs.com. Derek Wills and Al Craig will have the pre-game show at 7 p.m. The Bulldogs will close their two-game pre-season schedule against the Marlies on Monday, October 8th at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre in Brantford, Ontario at 7 p.m. The Bulldogs’ 17th season-opener is scheduled for Saturday, October 13th at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan where they will play the Griffins. The team’s home-opener is set for Friday, October 19th when they will host the Marlies at Copps Coliseum in Hamilton.
