MONTREAL – Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin announced Thursday the signing of forward Steven Quailer to a two-year contract (2012-13 and 2013-14). As per club policy, financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Quailer, 22, finished second on the Northeastern University Huskies (H-East) with 25 points (8 goals, 17 assists) in 26 games in 2011-12. The 6-foot-4, 195-pound forward led his team in assists and served 34 penalty minutes. Four of his goals were scored on the powerplay and he added one shorthanded goal. Quailer tallied two winning goals, recorded 78 shots on goal and maintained a plus-7 differential.

A native of Arvada, Colorado, Quailer, recorded 63 points (21 goals and 42 assists) and 85 penalty minutes in 105 games since his college debut with Northeastern in 2008-09. He was drafted by the Canadiens in the third round, 86th overall at the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. He is currently taking part in the Canadiens’ Development Camp at the Bell Sports Complex in Brossard.
