MONTREAL – Montreal Canadiens center David Desharnais has been named the NHL’s third star for the week ending February 8.
Desharnais racked up six points over the Canadiens’ last three games, beginning with a goal and an assist in a 3-2 loss against the Sabres on Tuesday. On Saturday, the 28-year-old forward followed up with a trio of assists in a 6-2 win over the Devils before adding another on Sunday against the Bruins to round out his week’s production at a goal and five helpers.
In 52 games this season, the Laurier-Station, QC native has registered eights goals and 23 assists, totaling 31 points.
Devan Dubnyk and Corey Perry of the Minnesota Wild and Anaheim Ducks were also named the league’s first and second stars, respectively.
